Storm Windows

Is there any way to keep your old windows without using storms? The short answer is “no.” That is the trade-off to keep your beautiful old windows.

 

Sometimes, however, there are options. Windows that are protected by a porch may be candidates for interior acrylic panels, sometimes called interior storms. “Mixed” storm windows may also be an option, where a lower panel—rather than the whole sash—is switched out for a screen in the summer. Especially hard to reach, upper story storms can be hung on storm hangers, and opened out at the bottom to allow for natural ventilation.
